The two teams were gathered at the tribal circle to await the results of the scavenger hunt. Ziggy looked quite smug as his fellow Astronettes laid out their finds on their stone "altar", and Sir Roland Moorecock (who, like Ziggy, had appointed himself a team leader) was gritting his teeth to see how much more was there compared to the finds of the Diamond Dogs.
The producers arrived as the sundial "struck" noon but there were two more people with them, concealed in capes and cowls.
One perky producer answered the resultant murmurs with, "Before we resolve this scavenger hunt challenge, we thought we'd surprise you. Each team will be getting a ninth member today!"
"Hopefully," Sir Roland said, "the Diamond Dogs will get someone competent for a change
"New Astronette, reveal yourself!" the producer cried, and off came his cowl. For a moment the Astronettes thought Sers must have an evil twin, but then they recognized John Blaylock's cool, distant expression, even as his eyes were shaded from the tropical sun by very dark sunglasses.
"A vampire?" cried Ziggy. "We already have one Scary Monster on our team! Two if you count Tommy Newton when he's out of his disguise
"Ziggy, don't be so insensitive," David said. "Welcome to our motley crew, Mr. Blaylock," he continued, shaking the newcomer's hand.
"New Diamond Dog, reveal yourself!" Off came the other cowl, and Monte was out in the open.
"So," Sir Roland said after a sigh, "I see you've left the big city. Got yourself into trouble again, didn't you? I'm amazed you weren't held up in customs!"
Nathan Adler was much more jovial. "Nice to see an old friend 'round here," he said as he heartily shook Monte's hand. "You wouldn't believe the loonies I've been trapped with
Following on from the scavenger hunt story "Treasures", this briefer-than-usual piece was written to bring in two more Bowie personas to the Cracked Actor Survivor challenge -- John Blaylock (the film The Hunger) and Monte (The Linguini Incident). It seemed only fair they be brought on in a surprise twist to the outcome of the scavenger hunt.
Woohoo! Monte's in now! Won't that add to the fun?
Hahha, you know, I've read this before and forgot to comment. I do love all the characters here! I wish you'd do more with them!
Thank you! (hugs) Sorry I haven't posted in a while here. Haven't had any good ideas of late for this wild bunch, and they deserve only the best!
Anytime! It's okay. I just hope you do, soon! I get it. I eagrely await their next adventure!
The muse has not been with me lately despite my best efforts, but I should have some new Bowie-character-related poems ready soon...
Agh, me neither, my dear. It's okay. I know, and I love them! Everytime you write, I'm gasping for moer!
I will keep that in mind! Even if the challenge is over, their adventures can continue elsewhere!
I'm so sorry to keep you waiting on this stuff! I've been meaning to get back to it for a while, but you know how busy things can get when you really just want to follow the muse. I will try and have something new by the time spring is out. Thank you for being a faithful fan!
Oh, no, that's okay! I just await this eagrely-It'll be the first thing I read when it comes out!!! Please, that's fine, I understand. Characters are fickle things, sometimes they work, sometimes not. Continue when you can-I just hope it's soon! LOL
John! I love him!
this is brilliant! I was NOT expecting this! very very well written!
Awww, thanks! I haven't gotten around to seeing The Linguini Incident as yet -- well, back in 1995 or so I caught some of it on TV. But knowing the basic premise and Monte's not-so-innocent nature, and realizing poor Nathan's hardly had anything to do so far (and has some mysteries in his own past), I figured it will be fun to explore that later. In the meantime, I realized that Ziggy's fear of what he thinks of as "monsters" would be fun to exploit with John's arrival.
